Entrepreneurial competencies are widely recognized as key drivers of success and survival for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), especially in emerging economies where the business environment is often tough. This study examines how entrepreneurial competencies influence the business success of SMEs and microenterprises (MSMEs) in Algeria. Using a post-positivist perspective and a quantitative research approach, the study employs deductive reasoning and relies on established models of entrepreneurial competencies. Data were gathered through a structured questionnaire distributed to a sample of Algerian entrepreneurs, and the results were analyzed with statistical methods to identify meaningful relationships between selected competencies and subjective indicators of business success. The originality of this study lies in analyzing entrepreneurial competencies from a behavioral perspective, rather than focusing only on personality traits, and in including environmental factors as additional variables that affect small business success in the Algerian context. The findings provide valuable behavioral insights for entrepreneurs, training programs, and policymakers aiming to promote entrepreneurial success and sustainability |
